Even the NFL Needs a Team-Building Day
You may have heard about a recent team-building event that an NFL football franchise up north held for their players. All 90 staff, including players and coaches, took a break from offseason camp to do something other than scrimmage for the afternoon – they went clay shooting.
While not all participants were experienced at shooting skeet – or even a gun – everyone had a good time bonding with teammates, getting out of their normal routines, and challenging themselves in a totally different sporting environment.
The point is, whether or not they grew up around clay shooting, the team-building event was a huge success. It gave the staff a renewed sense of trust and confidence going back on the field and heading toward regular season.
You Don’t Have to Go Skeet Shooting to Build a Team
While not all groups have access to or interest in shooting sports, there are many other types of team-building activities that can deliver the same benefits of camaraderie and teamwork among co-workers.
For example, one Chicago company combined an interactive BBQ with a charitable event to create an afternoon of fun, rewarding team building among its staff.
Other team-building programs, like the Amazing Race and “Mission Impossible” Scavenger Hunts, are also popular among corporate groups and teams looking to energize employees.
If you are looking for a new way to get your group out of the office or off the field, consider a team event that takes you to a new place, gets you out of your comfort zone, and allows you to have a little fun along the way.
Even the NFL is doing it.
