Dear Loyal WCF Events Clients and Sports Complex Friends and Families,
As many of you may have seen in the press or heard through the grapevine, the sports complex division at 2367 West Logan Blvd will be closing on August 31, 2023 after nearly 26 years. However, the parent company, Windy City Fieldhouse is NOT closing. Our corporate event planning division, WCF Events is moving to a new office location and will continue expanding its corporate events services throughout the city and nationwide. It is only our sports complex division and the sports complex itself at 2367 West Logan Blvd that will be closing its doors on August 31st. The facility remains open through that time with one of our busiest summers yet for youth camps, classes, birthdays and court rental. And we are excited to announce that many of our programs will continue under new management at nearby facilities.
What does that mean for you?
First, WCF Events, Windy City Fieldhouse’s nationwide Team Building and Corporate events division, will continue to execute over 400 Corporate Events a year. In fact, WCF Events will now have additional resources to expand its presence in the coming years across the country. These additional resources will also help WCF Events expand its wide array of corporate offerings including summer picnics, team building, charitable events and as well as expanding its already growing DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) product offerings.
Second, after a remarkable run of 25+ years, we are confirming that we will be closing our sports complex division at 2367 West Logan Blvd on August 31st. This is not a decision we made lightly, after all the success we’ve had, and especially after persevering through the pandemic. Unfortunately, in the end, the decision was not ours to make.
Our Sports complex has been a profitable division of Windy City Fieldhouse for 25+ years but post covid and under our revised lease with significant increases in rent and real estate taxes, it is no longer economically viable to operate the sports complex division in the city. We are obviously sad to be priced out of the Chicago market and tried for years to find an alternate solution as well with no success. We ran into similar lease rate and real estate tax issues for the limited amount of industrial property that could fit our unique building and size needs.
In the end, it was an incredible run and we will miss running the sports complex and seeing the generations of families playing sports in our facility. It has been a very busy summer already at WCF and we look forward to seeing as many of you as possible before the end of August to make one more final WCF memory.
