How our Scavenger Hunts Work

WCF’s Race and Scavenger Hunt Programs elevate team building to a new level of fun by incorporating strategic thinking and planning into an environment designed to entertain and energize your employees. With many new mission and destination options taking you to fun and exciting locations all over the city, this event is sure to be one your employees will never forget! The best part is, WCF does all the planning. All you have to do is show up and have fun.

As your corporate event planner, WCF does all the work. WCF’s team creates, organizes, and leads your group on an exciting and creative mission to popular destinations in Chicago or the suburbs.

Your team, on the other hand, is given a packet of clues and “Spy Guides” to answer questions and keep the group focused on the mission. As your team arrives at each destination, you are asked to complete challenges, collect unique items, and take fun and creative photographs. You can even wrap the event with a cocktail reception, casual dinner, or Cubs game, which we can help you coordinate.

What is a corporate scavenger hunt?
A corporate scavenger hunt is an interactive team building activity where employees work together by solving clues that lead them to destinations where they complete challenges for points, all while racing against the other teams to collect the most points before the time is up. Unlike a traditional walking tour, WCF Events scavenger hunts in Chicago, Phoenix, and nationwide are designed with elements that build communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills — with an emphasis having fun exploring the city of your choice!
Most of our Scavenger Hunts take place outside in Chicago with our most popular course being in the greater Michigan Ave area. Our Amazing Race is an expanded course spanning from Chinatown to Wrigleyville. We also offer our Night at the Museum Scavenger Hunts which take place indoors at a museum of your choice and our Resort & Venue Scavenger Hunt which can be customized to fit a hotel, resort or venue of your choice. We can also design custom scavenger hunts for specific cities, neighborhoods, parks, or even your corporate office campus.
Yes! While Chicago is our home base, we also run Phoenix scavenger hunts through our satellite office and create nationwide scavenger hunts for corporate clients across the U.S. Whether you’re in New York, Dallas, San Francisco, or right here in the Midwest, our team brings the hunt to you.
Most scavenger hunts run about 2–2.5 hours. This allows the group enough time to get to a handful of destinations and make it back to the ending location. We can also design longer hunts for more expansive hunt that covers more ground allowing your guests to see and experience more of the destinations, like our Amazing Race!
Scavenger hunts are scalable! We’ve hosted hunts for small groups of 5 all the way up to 1,000+ participants. Teams are typically 10 to 12 people each to maximize collaboration and fun.
Unlike simple app-based, self-guided hunts, our scavenger hunts send a WCF Guide with each to help keep teams on task, answer questions, keep score and make sure no one gets lost! This simple addition improves the integrity of the event, allows for more challenging activities and ensures maximum participation and effectiveness – aka zero chance that the team takes the funds to the nearest bar instead of competing in the event.
Absolutely! For a small fee, we can incorporate your company’s values, industry, or inside jokes into the clues and challenges. Many clients also add charitable components — for example, gathering items for donation during the hunt or a bike building station at one of the locations. We can even add a theme of your choice to celebrate a holiday or milestone!
Yes. Scavenger hunts are a perfect way to break up long conference sessions, get employees moving, and encourage networking. Clients frequently add scavenger hunts to their meetings or conferences as entertainment between sessions. It is especially great for out-of-town groups to get a whirl wind tour of the city while building relationships with their teammates!
Our scavenger hunt events run rain or shine! We encourage guests to purchase ponchos or use the Chicago Pedway system to stay dry. If worse comes to worse, we will work with your team to find a backup plan!
