Basketball Academy Ages 6-14


 

BASKETBALL 101

The perfect class for young athletes who are looking to move beyond basic instruction and ready to more thoroughly understand the game.  Players enhance their skills by learning more detailed offensive points of the game such as setting screens and moving without the ball.  Players are also introduced to defensive aspects of the game including proper defensive stance and concepts such as zone and man to man defense.  Players develop their shot using proper form and mechanics to be more effective from further distances from the basket.  All instruction is game/drill oriented with scrimmages played every day.  Boys & Girls Ages 6-10.

  • Section 1: Ages 6-8  Monday 4:00 - 5:00 PM   8 weeks  $175  Class begins Sep 8

BASKETBALL 202

Athletes develop existing skills with the focus on setting and achieving personal goals.  Classes are conducted with various guard/post-work to develop passing, shooting and dribbling in game situations.  Defensive instruction includes man to man defense, denying the ball, help-line and boxing out.  Full court scrimmages are played every day along with specialized instruction.  Boys and Girls Ages 9-12.

FALL BOYS AND GIRLS BASKETBALL LEAGUE       NEW!

September 12 – November 7
Don’t miss WCSA’s Fall Basketball League, exposing youth players to team dynamics and encouraging individual development.  Through game play and organized practices, players learn new techniques and improve existing skill levels. 

LEAGUE & TEAM ORGANIZATION: Games begin Friday, September 12 and continue through November 7.  No Games on October 17.  Games are played on Friday between 4:00 – 7:00 PM. Teams are separated into three divisions: Beginners (Ages 5-7), Juniors (Ages 8-10) and All Stars (Ages 11-12).  There are separate boys and girls divisions.  Teams play a 7 game season with 1 hour of practice time before each game.  Once rosters are completed, they are final.  The program depends on parents and friends to volunteer for coaching duties.  Each team will have a maximum of three coaches.  Those interested may call Steve at (773) 486-7300 ext. 555.

Space is limited.  Register by August 29. 

Evaluation Period: September 5 - evaluations for all participants.  These evaluations determine team placement with the goal of providing balanced teams.  Attendance at evaluations is required.

  • Boys and Girls Ages 11 – 12:      7:00 - 8:00 PM

**League fee includes a uniform and a medal at the end of the season for each player.
  



ALL CLASS TIMES AND HOURS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE. NO REFUNDS. NO MAKE-UP CLASSES OR REFUNDS OFFERED FOR MISSED CLASSES. AN ADMINISTRATIVE FEE EQUAL TO 10% OF THE CLASS FEE WILL BE CHARGED FOR ALL CANCELLATIONS. REGISTRATION FOR CURRENTLY ENROLLED WCSA KIDS STARTS IMMEDIATELY. OPEN REGISTRATION STARTS THREE WEEKS BEFORE CLASSES BEGIN. REGISTRATION FOR SUMMER CAMPS STARTS IMMEDIATELY.
